This particular watch is very easy to set compared to another Citizen watch I own. (That one I have to go to their website for directions every time I need to make a major change.) The blue band with the yellow accented watch face make a pleasing "look". I like this look but compared to metal bands, straps are somewhat inconvenient to take on and off. I immediately regretted not getting the stainless band model instead. Citizen uses an odd metric width for this band and generic bands generally will not work. Citizen really charges a premium for bands bought alone but I may have to eventually pucker up and pay.
I thought I wou like this watch but I was wrong.... I absolutely love it. The combination of the color of the dial, the bezel, markings on the dial, and the band make this watch outstanding! All topped off with radio controlled time keeping with no battery changes add to the appeal of this amazing watch. The only negative was the stiffness of the band that has since softened and become much more comfortable.
This is a beautiful timepiece and I bought it at a great price ($258). To be able to put so much capability into such a small vehicle is quite amazing. My only complaint with it is that it has so far been difficult to find a place in my home where the satellite's signals can reach it. Although it is running fine and is set up correctly, whenever I ask if it has received the satellite's signals, it says No.
This was a gift for my boyfriend who has an extensive watch collection and likes Citizen timepieces. I was afraid of making a mistake because he is a physicist and tech expert and I felt I would offend him if the watch was not good. He was thrilled and has enjoyed setting it and doing all the things one can do with it including the logarithms. I bought the silicone band from another supplier because I heard that so many men found the original band irritating. I gave him the silicone band with the watch. He never used it. He found the original Citizen band very comfortable and has had no discomfort with it. He likes the bit of yellow that shows on the band as it compliments the small yellow ring around the dial. The crystal on the face is sapphire so it is pretty much scratch-proof. It is also water proof down to 200 meters. In the opinion of my very picky and sophisticated boyfriend both the watch and band are perfect. For me, it was an excellent value considering how impressive the watch is. I am so happy I made this decision on my own. For those of you who want to give a gift, this is a perfect timepiece.
All of the features work as they should. There is a SLIGHT alignment issue on the second hand, but this may be just because the second hand is extra long. I have four Citizen watches, including two other aviation watches and a diver, and this Blue Angels chrono has the longest second hand of them all (probably because you set the timezone by pointing the second hand at the proper city on the inner bezel). If the hand was the "normal" length I don't think I would notice a problem. The biggest thing to keep in mind is the band. The watch has 23mm lugs (thanks Citizen) and the leather band AND spring bars are actually curved to match the case. I usually replace spring bars with extra thick 2-2.5mm bars, but I had to stick with the stock bars because straight bars sit too close to the case to allow a strap. The leather strap was so stiff that I couldn't get a comfortable fit. Basically, it was really tight on each side of my wrist and loose in other places. I changed it out for a 24mm nato.
