Amazing camera in every way. Fantastic in low light, and it can crop super far with its high megapixels which is fantastic for extending telephoto / macro (or to just be lazy with portrait compositions lol). Pixel shift is really useful to create excruciatingly detailed landscapes and has been updated to 0.5s between shots, making it twice as quick and convenient. Battery life and overall weight/grip is great.
The image quality, 10fps shooting, and compactness are just some of the key features for this body. I do a lot of shoots for clients and the image quality is a must. The 10 fps also comes in handy. I used to be shooting with the a7sii and compared to its 5 fps, its a HUGE benefit for me when im out doing shoots when I'm bored or when I'm doing client work. The video capability is also more than enough for today's standards in the industry. But you'll have a hard time with its limited 4k shooting. You'd obviously want a dedicated video setup for that (like the up and coming a7siii, i really hope it'll shoot 4:2:2 so I dont need assisted 4k). I notice that on single shooting drive mode, pressing very lightly will make the camera shoot twice in succession. fairly annoying (albeit it happens rarely). I'm probably pressing it just lightly enough so that the shutter goes off twice.
The best camera that I have ever own and I've owned a lot of them. The color, dynamic range and sharpness of photos and videos are breathtaking. The focusing speed and eye focus is a dream. And the 42 megapixels detail is just outstanding and the in-body image stabilization was huge esp when I mainly shoot with prime lenses. The major thing I did not like was the grip. I have small hands yet the grip can't fit four fingers so my little pinky is floating at the bottom. Another minor ding is the limited touch screen. And the video file is obscenely large at 4K so I rather record at 1080p. Otherwise I love everything about this camera.
I am now spoiled by all the feature in this camera. I shoot a lot of product stuff and I love the Tilt screen! I no longer need to get on the floor to compose my shots.
Did my research and this was the camera to buy. I was considering the Leica M, but having both the lens quality, 41MP, and autofocus was the right decision.
